Rhyme: Five Little Lambs

Note: I’ve used this as a closing rhyme. For my knights theme, I changed the lyrics to “little knights” and “Queen Mother.” Use your imagination!

“It’s time for my lambs to go to bed,” the great big mother sheep said.
“So I will count them first to see if all my lambs came back to me.

Fingerplay: Here’s a Hill

Here’s a hill (tilt left arm so that it forms a hill)
And here’s a hill (tilt right arm so that it forms a hill)
All covered with snow (raise hands up, bring down in snow motion)
I’ll put on my coat, (put coat on)
And jump on my sled (hold the rope of a sled)
And ZOOM, down the hill I will go! (clap hands, slid hands down)

Rhyme: Humming Bird

A hummingbird gets its name from the sound

Hand Game: This Little Lamb

This little lamb went to the pasture,

Finger Play: Two Mother Sheep

Note: I did this for my sheep themed storytime. The original version is “Two Mother Pigs” – but you can adapt the animal to fit your theme

Two mother sheep lived in a pen (show thumbs)
Each had four babies, and that made ten (show fingers and thumbs)
These four babies were soft and pink (hold up one hand, four fingers up)
These four babies were black as ink (hold up other hand, four fingers up)
All eight babies loved to play
And they rolled, and they rolled, in the mud all day. (roll hands over each other)
At night, with their mothers, they curled up in a heap, (make fists)
And squealed and squealed until they went…to…sleep. (turn fists over, palms up)
